Care
Caring for a hand-finished piece
Gilded, plaster and timber finishes are worked by hand and age gracefully with a little care.
Gilded and leafed surfaces: dust gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth. Never use water, solvents or proprietary metal polishes: the leaf and burnish sit on the surface and will lift.
Plaster and lime finishes: keep dry and dust with a soft brush. The matte surface can be marked by oils, so handle with clean, dry hands.
Timber: wax once or twice a year with a clear furniture wax, buffed back with a soft cloth. Keep out of direct, prolonged sunlight to let the colour settle evenly.
Every finish is made to age. Marks and patina are part of the material. If a piece ever needs attention, get in touch before doing anything to it.
